In a pretty bold move Brian Gardner, the premium Revolution Theme creator, announced that he is going open source. The Revolution Theme is one of the first premium themes to really gain traction and is probably the most popular to be released yet. Brian spells it all out on his his blog covering the details regarding the new open source content and his already paid customers.
Contrary to the sound of this announcement, it doesn’t look like Brian will be abandoning a revenue model all together. Just a switch to more of a paid support role. Pretty wild stuff. It will be interesting to see if others follow.
